Superstar Rajinikanth tested his luck with Kaala which released on June 7th. PA Ranjith directed the movie and Rajinikanth played a gangster in this action thriller. The film opened to negative reviews and registered poor openings at the box-office. While the theatrical rights have been valued for Rs 25 crores, Kaala collected a theatrical share of Rs 7.25 crores in its final run across the Telugu states which is poor.
